South Branch Sign: A Minimalist and Fashionable Hong Kong-Style Restaurant

Designing a New Perspective on Hong Kong Cuisine

This is a branch design of Hong Kong-style chain brand restaurant. The designer starts from the inner dimension of environmental construction, through in-depth thinking and combing the relationship between food and culture, fashion and tradition, and disseminates the emotional communication channel to the heart.

In the bustling city of Changzhou, a new Hong Kong-style restaurant has emerged, captivating diners with its minimalist and fashionable design. Designed by Tiao Ouyang, the South Branch Sign restaurant breaks away from the traditional Hong Kong-style restaurant aesthetic, offering a flexible and comfortable dining experience.

In this case, the design team follows the brand's consistent concise approach, focusing on highlighting the virtual and real space and liquidity. With transparent, pure, and delicate visual presentation, the designers have transformed the public's inherent impression of Hong Kong-style restaurants into a rational and fashionable style.

The restaurant covers a total of 500 square meters and features smooth lines on the facade and the top, outlining delicate texture details. The designers have used different materials and colors to distinguish different functional areas, reducing physical partitions and creating a sense of spaciousness. The design showcases a simple texture, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

With the help of terrazzo, wood, cortex, and mirror, the interface between the two rooms serves as a transitional extension, adding richness and diversity to the spatial texture. The careful attention to detail sets South Branch Sign apart from other restaurants, creating a unique and immersive dining experience.

The interior design follows a minimalist spirit, with pure geometry and simple decoration. The dining room is adorned with furniture, lighting, and decoration in red, white, and black tones, creating a fresh and natural atmosphere. The scattered chandeliers soften the square space and provide visual focal points, enhancing the overall visual tension of the space.

The South Branch Sign project started in March 2019 and was completed in May 2019 in Changzhou. The design team faced the challenge of creating a mature and stable design that reflects the growth and evolution of the brand. The result is a space that combines the tenderness of the East with the classical rhythm of the West, creating a compatible and new style that captures the essence of Hong Kong.

The South Branch Sign design has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award honors designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its minimalist and fashionable design, South Branch Sign offers a fresh perspective on Hong Kong cuisine, inviting diners to experience the authentic taste of Hong Kong in a new and exciting way.
